You are fortunate. In Canada any pistol with a barrell of 105 mm or smaller is prohibited. I can buy a P-38 or a 1911A1 but not a Luger . Really puts a damper on collecting old WW2 German pistols.

Loyer-is there a separate firearms collector license type in Canada? Here in Australia a collector can have short barrel pistols that a regular sporting or target shooter can't (no shooting-just collecting).

    Canada Permits:
In my Province we need to pass a written and amnual test to obtain a "PAL".
    These come in 3 levels:
    -un-restricted (long guns and shotguns)
-restricted (pistols over 105 mm barrell and not .32 or .25 cal)
-prohibited ( pistol under 105 or .32/.25 but only if you have had such a gun legally and continuously in your possession since 2008).

In my case 20 years ago I had two dozen war time pistols but I sold them all to buy a new car. Now. because I didn't buy another in the last twenty years, I cannot buy a prohibited gun at all.

I wouldn't mind so much if they exempted the old war time guns because of their heritage but they do not make that distinction.

Great handgun, BILL..., with the aura of romantic Victorian engineering...I have a relic (pited, parts missing) myself, i'll try to upload photos.
