One of the many, many models of pocket pistols in 7.65mm that were used by the Germans, the Mauser M1934 was a cosmetically improved version of the original M1914, the major differences being a high polished blued finish and recontoured grips that are similar to the HSc model that replaced it as a completely modern design in the late 1930s. The M34 remained in production until 1940 or so but the numbers bought by the army and navy were relatively small (6,000/8,000 respectively) as the basic design was outdated by then.
This example is a commercial production model but unusually is fitted with a lanyard loop, so may have been used by guards (bank/factory etc) of some description. The holster was bought by me last year at one of our militaria fairs here for a very good price and is stamped 'Erfurt' with an eagle above it near the closure stud-no ink stamp on the inside flap to show what it was meant for but the 1934 fits into it perfectly. The pistol itself is in very good shape and shows off the standard of manufacture of the type and goes well with the little belt holster.
