So... would ya'll say this is real?

Russian Maxim 1910 produced 1917 but refurbished in 1942 for WW2. My grandfather has had it for about 20 years and never has had it officially authenticated or anything.

    Thanks! Reagan

Hi, yes it is indeed a Maxim M1910.

I have fired one of these live with the British Army Plus with blanks at some events with our LH group. They are very stable on the heavy "Sokolov" mount.

The fusee spring cover on yours has nice Imperial markings. It is a great pity that someone has stripped the paint off the mount etc. It lacks the armour shield, but these do come up for sale now and again.

    Cheers, Ade.

Are these rare? Hard to come by? Or plentiful?

I think this will partly depend on where you live in the world? I cannot speak for the USA.

Here in the UK they can be bought easily for around £400. These have come from Ukrainian war reserve stocks.

    Cheers, Ade.

As far as I can tell they are very hard to find here. In one of our value books it said $20,000. I doubt it's worth that much.

But thanks to you all, I can at least know its real!

    Thanks! Reagan

Ah, that value would be for a live working example

If it is live and not registered this would be a BIG problem. We are talking a Federal Offence and jail time.

    Cheers, Ade.
