First time I've ever heard of or seen this particular German MP. Interesting how the magazine goes into the breach on an angle. Any particular reason for this? When was this particular MP made? How did it compare with the MP40? What calibre is it?

Hi Ben, yes, still going to Derby this weekend.

Hi Tony, the gun is technically Austrian. The Germans forces adopted it after the 1938 Anschluss. The calibre is the usual 9mm. Here is a very good link telling the history of this weapon:

Having used both weapons (MP34 and MP40) I can say the MP34 is heavy but well made. The side mounted mag does allow a better postition to be adopted in prone fire.
