Beautiful piece and in minty condition too. Rare to find one in such beautiful condition. Would imagine worth a substantial sum on money. Thanks for sharing

OK...that makes me jealous.....awesome gun. A must have for any serious collector
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Great looking 1911A1.But just for my education, I thought that the serial number should be on the firing pin stop on the slide and the last 2 digits on the trigger guard should match the serial # ?

Used to be, you would see these all over for $50 bucks...today, they are as scarce as hen's teeth. Nice piece and in great shape!

No Phil, the Serial number location under firing pin retainer plate (which you would not see in my photos anyway) were in this serial number range S/N 710,001 to about 1,140,000. After that it was discontinued.
Here is a photo showing what you are talking about.

Thank you to everyone else for the kind comments.
I actually have another one in almost as good of shape that allegedly belonged to a tail-gunner in WWII. It came with the holster.

Mark, that is a really nice 1911. I want One for the collecting but have not pulled the "trigger" yet. Prices are going up so the time to buy was yesterday. A friend who live near by has 72 in his collecting and is willing to sell me one I just can not decide on a colt or remington he told me the Remington's were better than the colt towards the end of the war. Marty

I got your PM will send pics out this weekend.
