I don't think you'll have much of a problem finding a really nice one.
Once saw an article in a gun magazine about a warehouse full
of CMP M1's. If I recall, there were at least three grades or
levels of quality to choose from, so you might pick one
    out from the 'middle' range.

You'll be drooling in there for sure.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

That's a nice carbine joe. I had a universal at one time, it was really loud to shoot. It was a fun little gun though, I kinda wish I had held on to it. I'd be drooling too in the CMP store lol

Believe it or not, my father came home with a carbine the other day. I guess someone owed him some money and my dad took that for payment. It's a Std. Products and is now sitting in my collection. Two carbine?! Why not!

My first live rifle was an M1 Garand so I have a great affection for them. Serial number was in the 1,185xxx range.

Joe, as with all militaria & firearms, I would buy the best one you could possibly afford.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Super nice Garand!
Ive shot the snot out of the Garand and wish I had one, so I could shoot it some more.
At one point, I went and looked at some rifles for sale. The bloke had a Garand and an M1 Carbine, both in mint condition. Problem was, that the guy knew what he had.
Being primarily interested in a shooter, I didnt want to pay extra, just because a rifle was made by Winchester.
Didnt buy that one. Still wish i had one though.

Ade, yours was made in aug 1943. I hear you on that Scout and thank you, Winchesters always seem to bring a premium, no matter what. I've been thinking about getting a CMP Winchester, but they're still about 200 more than a Springfield or H&R. H&Rs used to be one of the more sought after ones too, but don't seem as popular now for some reason.

Ive always liked H&R, ever since I handled my first topbreak revolver from that company many years ago.

I have always liked those revolvers too, I wish they still made them, the prices on used ones seem to be creeping higher at the gunshows
