My G88 Comisssion Rifle

Hello agiain chaps,
This is the third of my New additions.
It is a rifle where Mauser did not participate in its manufacture. A Comission was put together and a few heads then come up with the first of a box type Magazine design The Gew 88. This was unusual in that it had a sleeve around the barrel and fired a 7.9mm bullet.
This one was made at Danzig and is dated 1891

Yours has been modified to use 'Spitzer' pointy bullets as most were-the barrel jacket was also used on the Belgian M1888 Mauser but the longest lived version was the Chinese Hangyuan T88 essentially the Reichs Commission rifle but minus the jacket, remained in production until the end of WW2.
