I can't believe that being allowed to own a deac without a license is "lax".

Here in the states, as long as you are 18, you can walk into a gun shop and buy a live one. Just fill out a couple of papers and you're good to go. I was even talking to a dealer once about how he has had a few people over the years check the "Are you a fugitive from the law?" box and they are still approved for a firearm sale.

To have a working handgun all you have to do is be 21. Deacs here are kind of like jokes. Noone wants to buy a gun that doesn't work lol

I feel for you Rene, mate. What a darn shame !

We had to do a bunch of licensing up here not too long ago. All 'Assault' rifles
became restricted, and everyone had to have these 'registered'.
Also, all high capacity, self-loading handgun magazines were to be altered
to carry only 10 rounds. Some guys just turned in their guns.

I was the last guy, on the last day, at the last minute in the local PD to have
my Colt AR-15 registered. I was there waiting for 6 hours. I pleaded with
them to let me trade it for a nice old antique flintlock ( of which I
guessed there must have been a few stashed away in the
basement ) but they wouldn't go for it.

I like to 'joke' that the cops up here have some excellent and extensive
gun collections - which were provided by the public for free.........
