Redhand that 1911 is a good looking gun. I'm not a 1911 expert but I do play one on TV. everything appears to be correct. the barrel stamp is "HP" those are getting hard to come by. The only thing I'm not sure about is the hammer (it's probably the lighting) it's probably the correct hammer as well. It's hard to place value on pistols but I'd give that an easy $1200.00 to $1500.00. As far as shooting it should you get it, It's best not to shoot it but if you do, I'd keep it to standard pressure ammo and use a new standard or slight heavier recoil spring. And keep the shooting to a minimum. The weak part on those early 1911's is the slide as they are not hardened and can crack if shot with weak springs or high pressure ammo. Chances are it will outlive all of us, but I wouldn't go out and give it an endurance test or anything like that. Really nice gun, I hope you get it.
