This weekend I added this Mauser HSc to my collection; its serial no. 897670 shows it to be a late production made in 1944, with the usual proof and Poleizi "eagle L" stamps. I photographed it along with my RC Walther ( ac 42 ) P. 38 for size comparison. There's a little "bubbling" of the finish on the left of the slide and some scraping of the finish ( not into the metal ) on the right at the muzzle, with thinning and a little surface rust ( but no pits ) on the grip straps; but otherwise the finish's very nice. The walnut grips are sound and unchipped or cracked. I've only sighted it in and fired a clip through it, so can't verify its ( or my own! ) accuracy yet, but am looking forward to it when the weather permits.
