    Your No.1 rifle looks to be an FTR as it has a solid beech WW2 era replacement buttstock. When brit rifles went through FTR they typically were renumbered to match when parts were replaced. Not sure what you mean by desert rat sling on your N04...the web sling was produced staring around 1908 and pretty much the norm after WW1.

    well I do not have any solid evidence that it is a desert rats sling but it is ww2 unissued dated 1942 so i like to think that it is. I got a new Lithgow 1920 SMLE and I will post pictures when I get a day with good lighting.

    here it is. it has the ishapore screw so it probably was rearsenaled in India. it is all matching and even the stock matches.
