    This is probably in my top three favorites in my collection.

    A 1912 Colt 1911 which was issued to a Major Edgar Smith of the Ohio National Guard (in the ONG from 1901-1919).

    1916 and Pancho Villa: While in the Ohio National Guard, Company K 3rd Infantry Major Leon Edgar Smith was
    part of the 1916 “Punitive Expedition" of U.S. troops into Mexico in pursuit of Pancho Villa and his band on the Mexican border at El Paso, Texas.

    1917 and WWI: In 1917 Major Smith and the 3rd Infantry was re-designated as the 148th Infantry of Ohio, while on the Western Front fought under the 74th Brigade, 37th Infantry Division. Major Smith’s unit saw action in many of the major battles on the Western Front including Meuse-Argonne, Ypres-Lys offenses at Recicourt and Avocourt.

    The History this Colt has experienced is worth the value of it alone! Nice find!

    Ok. Stop. Now your really making me jealous.......First the German pistols, then the Japanese and then you post this..my favorite and the best pistol EVER made.

    That is a fantastic looking early 1911 with a history that just shouts" You Gotta Love Me"

    Thanks Phil for the comment! In my research I even have copies of the Major's shooting match scores and he was a heck of a shot!
