P38 cyq spreewerk late war ??

what are your thoughts on this p38 pistol
looking around it seems its a late war pistol?
a lot of the bluing is still there
the bore is very clean I don't think its ever been fired
are late war pistols rare

Hello Tony,

It looks nice to me, I am not a P38 expert, but I can tell you it's mid not late war.
Spreewerk didn't start making the P38 until June 1942.
With this one having a serial number of 8231a it was made in March 1943, making it quite an early one.
