Parris Dunn Dummy Training Rifle

Article about: Thanks for the kind words, folks! I think you've persuaded me to keep it. Maybe it'll be my wall-hanger. Here is the pic of when I first got it at the recycling plant.

Default Parris Dunn Dummy Training Rifle

I got this "rifle" from a customer of our recycling facility. It's modeled after the "springfield" M1903 rifle and the bolt functions and you "snap" the trigger.

I've heard it's rare to see one in such good shape because they are very light weight and were used by countless troops for boot camp/ close order drill training.

I have no idea if the sling is USGI...

As a kid, I would have killed for a toy gun like this!

That is an amazing find, Joe! You see very few anymore - and almost none in that condition.

Thanks, Mark! I'm not sure if I want to keep it or sell/ trade it in favor of something that actually goes "pow."

You do often see wooden 'blank' training 'rifles' being used by armed forces for wartime emergency use or old unservicable rifles for Drill Purpose but that thing of yours is amazing-the amount of effort in making it would be close to a real one-being much lighter would count against it for drill practice though if you had to start throwing about a real one...I would keep it as such rarities will only increase in value like a rocket.

Extremely nice training rifle Joe. Would definitely hang onto that if I were you.
I/we as kids, would have killed for a 'toy' rifle such as this too.
( Lol - might even kill for one of these today.........! )
    Regards,

    Steve.
