I went to the Forks of theDelaware Historical Arms Society gun show in Allentown, PA. The hold 5 2 day shows each year - normally with 600-700 tables and lots of militaria.

I chatted with some sellers who told me that Saturday was dead - very few sold anything in volume and Sunday morning seemed slow, too. I was one of the few members there for the early opening and I didn't see many people there when I was leaving.

I checked out one guy selling 91/30s out of crates - he had 2 crates with maybe 11 rifles combined in the 2 crates. All Izhevsks and all 43 or 44s - nothing really jumped out at me.

I wondered around the show - saw 2 nice, correct BSA Enfield No5 Mk1s - one for $415 and the other $395. All BSA parts from what I could see and the SNs matched.

Several dealers had one or two 91/30s but nothing spectacular - a few Finns and one marked Spanish Civil War on the tag - but I've tried to stay more closely with WWII weapons.

I was about to leave when I spotted another seller who had maybe 10 91/30s. I started to look at them - Izhevsks from 43 and 44 - when the seller started talking to me. He told me he had two that were different. a '42 Tula and a '36 Izhevsk.

I ended up taking both. These came through a German importer - and were not as clean/refinished as the normal CAI ones we see. And, they didn't come with the parts kits so I need to pick up slings for them. In any case, I am pleased with what I found.

Here is a pic of both of them.

Those are in great shape, I've always liked the Izzys, mostly because everyone I knew only wanted Tula, so I had to be different
