    I don't think it was designed for special, tank, it could be used for any, i would say- unisex.
    This is from the closed museum of the Tula weapons factory

    Looks like it is based on PPSH, doesn't it?
    Here is one based on AK by the same engineer Kurenkov K.T.

    Very interesting.
    I see on the tag that it's 7.62 and the drum does look PPSh ish. So I guess this is in 7.62x25 ?
