In my case for these, it was close to dry and crusty.

You can use mineral spirts, diesel fuel ,karosene, and other petro forms to pre soak such as I did.
I brushed off excess, then Poured boiling soapy water in a container with them in it.
Fumes were never inside the house.
Did a repeat of this twice and it worked great. Re-oiled mags and springs and back to 100%, and full.

Springs was removed during this process and third Mag was in the soak before I thought to take pics.

Cleaned-up nicely! Are those hi-cap mags? Sorry, couldn't resist. Do you have something to attach those to? Although fuel is dangerous to inhale, if briefly brushed across the olfactory system, it's rather pleasant.

Must be tired, I'm posting. The first post was difficult, 1000th is like a 40th b-day, goes by and doesn't get much notice.
