Enjoy this Remington Rand 1943 Production 1911A1 .45 Auto along with a 50 round box of 1943 steel case ctgs made at the Evansville Ordnance Plant, Evansville Ind... I think that 1943 was the only year that the steel case ctgs were made along with 1943 Steel 1 cent pieces because of a shortage of brass here in the USA..BILL

Ade, There was also steel cased M1 Carbine ammo as well...BILL

I'm sorry that i have to comment so late but i'm new in the Forum and i'm slowly working my way through. As i recall from good sources, steel-cased WWII ammo, except from ruining the extractors on 1911A1s (after of course 100s of rounds), was/is corrosive. Anyway, 1911A1s, strictly intended for personal protection or for battle in confined spaces, stood up well the steel-cased ammo diet, excepting the frosted/pitted barrels so often encountered on these old warhorses. As i've read in the web, it's o.k. to shoot EC 43 & ECS 43 ammo as long as you hose the barrel down with hot soap-water & after that oiling, at the end of every shooting session, together with a couple of extractors in hand.
