reviving a k98

Article about: hey guys, i have a ce 42 k98 that i have never fired. i got it from an old neighbor of mine who never used it either. the bore and the rifle itself is in good condition, its just dry as bone

    hey guys, i have a ce 42 k98 that i have never fired. i got it from an old neighbor of mine who never used it either. the bore and the rifle itself is in good condition, its just dry as bone

    i barely know a thing about taking care of ww2-era rifles. how should i go about getting it firing again?

    i would sugest you take it to a good gunsmith and have him check it out ,to see if its safe to fire , im sure it will be but better safe than sorry , cheers ian

    Ian is correct take it to a gunsmith they will do what need to be done with it.

    among other things a good gun smith will check firing pin protrusion, head space ,and put a guage plug through the bore,to make sure a bullet can go down thwe barrel safely , the head space check will make sure there are no split case, or breach explosions, he may fire a couple of proof rounds through it him self , after all that you should be good to go,,cheers ian

    how much do you think that will cost me from an average gunsmith?

    if you intend on firing it,,it will be worth whatever the fee is...
