Scope-Military or civilian ?

Guys, this scope and sling were veteran acquired but the scope has no military markings and does not conform to typical, mod.98, scopes. Thought you'd like to have a look. Best, Hal

Wetzlar was the home of Leica and Zeiss the lens/glass maker , they made the glass and Leica assembled for their cameras and optical devices (microscopes, telescopes, etc).

The engraving is correct for the period as done at the Leica factory (I have several pre war and 1 during the war built Leica cameras to compare it to) so it appears correct as does the knurling of the adjustment wheel. It does appear to have some patina on the scope barrel but without an acceptance stamp it would be a tough call.

If it was Heer issued it would be marked as such and would bear an appropriate acceptance stamp.

I think this was from a non military hunting rifle but "may" have been a private purchase.

Hello-there is always the possibility it may have been impressed in to service at some stage especially near the end of the war-Volksturm used hunting rifles amongst every other form of available weapon.
