    it would be possible to find the history of the Territorial Royal Engineers 238th Co.
    the copper disk is on my Lee-Enfield SMLE NoIII 1917, manufactured by the London Small Arms

    the 238 Field Co RE were in the 51st Highland Infantry Division from sept. 3, 1939 to february 29, 1940 and reached then under 1st the Infantry Division up to 1945(From the official order or battle). maybe after WWI this weapon has been delivered to reserve or support troops and in 1939,/40 come along with the english and here left behind during their release to Dunkerque. This is well possible because so much has lagged behind in 1940,
