    Default Snider 2 band

    N0 5 on my list,
This is my Snider 2 Band Rifle dated 1860
The Snider was the first British Breach Loader to be issued to the Army .
A lot of these were converted from the 1853 Enfield Muzzle Loader as this rifle seems to be.
Sniders were issued around 1862 so the date preceeds this but is correct for an Enfield.
These Rifles were in service until the introduction if the Martini Henry around 1871. (My next one to post)

    Regards

    Jim

Very good Snider-yours is an Artillery MkII** Snider-as you stated it's a conversion from the P1853 Rifle as approved from Jan 1867 onwards-do you have one of the Yataghan bayos for it? By far the most impressive of the British bayos you usually see IMO.
