This came from the veterans family and the story I got was it came off a German rifle, which was sold long ago.
I don't know much about optics but there seems to be some pitting to the lens.

What mag is it Karl? Is it fixed? First appearance makes me think it's just a generic hunting 'scope, but let's see what others may think.

    Regards, Ned.

    Hi Karl,

First off, ignore my first post, it's completely bogus!

Hensoldt is the military arm of Carl Zeiss Optics, so your 'scope, which appears to be a Hensoldt Wetzler Ziel Dialyt 4 X which IS a sniper 'scope and was fitted to the Kar98 sniper rifle.

These 'scopes are highly thought of and collectable. In good condition it's worth around $250-300, if badly pitted around $100-150.

These 'scopes were produced from the 1920's through to the 1940's and used throughout the war. The serial no. will tell you when it was manufactured, so if you post it, i'll try and track it down....but no promises!

    Regards, Ned.
