My Lee Enfield No.1 Mk 3. This is an Indian Rifle with a factory rebuild mark for 1949. The barrel is dated 1944 and the stock 1930. It is shown here with a WW1 relic Enfield recovered from the western front, and also with bayonet, oil bottle and a prismatic device for checking the rifles bore.
You are right of course, its sad to see historic weapons mutilated by deactivation. But you get used to it, especially if you have never been allowed anything else.
Also, there are some advantages to living in a country which is not awash with firearms.
