    Default Sten Machine Carbine Mk.5

Acquired last weekend, and very pleased with it. Old-spec deactivated so cocks and dry fires.

VS 249019 denoting first batch assembled at ROF Fazakerley; M/78 denoting housing manufactured by Elkington & Co., Birmingham; Butt, Mk.3 with early (pre-Feb.1945) brass Butt Plate; Butt Swivel, Mk.2 rifle-type; Sten Sling, Mk.3 hooked, Mills Equipment Company; Bayonet, No.4 Mk.3 marked M/158, manufactured by Lucas. The Butt is serial-matched to the gun and 74444 electric penciled out may suggest that it could have originally been fitted to an earlier third batch ROF Theale assembled Sten?

    Great photos!

I've always had a weak spot for this particular version of the good old Sten.
I think it is the wooden features that does the trick.

    Thanks for sharing

Love it! Never knew you could attach a bayo to it.

A nice gun, but were it a working gun, and if you had the sling anchored where you have at the front, you would probably see the error of your ways at some point.
