    Wouldn't it be possible to use Machine-Screws rather than the Rivets for the Front & Rear Barrel Bushings?

    Simple answer is No, the front and rear bushing are silver soldered into place. The rivets simply help locate the bushings prior to the soldering and also help the strength of the solder. Soft screws will sheer in no time with the weight of the bolt clattering the bushing at the breech. It is probably even worse in the US closed bolt guns.
