There is a german sunken boat close to where it was found,
but it is not known that torpedos were used to sink it.
    Any info will help.

I think the answer on the type of torpedo used to sink the ship would be "the exploding type one". Sorry mate, i couldn't resist!

Nice finding and i hope the guys will help you out with this one!

I have no idea about Torpedo design but I think this looks more like a pump, is there what maybe a drive shaft?

I have no idea what this is, but it's in no way similar to a torpedoengine of any sort (the word "discharge" could indicate a valve of some sort).

    As above.

BTW would big parts survive a succesful WWII torpedo hit?

Yes, it's possible (depending on the circumstances). There are several examples of torpedoparts being recovered. For instance: Several G7e parts are preserved from the attacks in Scapa Flow by Prien. In the warmuseum in Narvik you can see a G7a aftsections having survived the warheads detonation (probably detonated when hitting land at shallow depht, and the force of the explosion have been dissapated through the air) ++

    Thanks.

Prien's attack on the Royal Oak was one heck of a run!
