I just wanted to take a moment to share this carved wooden M1911 pistol that I recently acquired. It came out of the estate of a Korean War veteran U.S. Marine.

I was told that this was a piece of trench art that he made while overseas. Regardless if this provenance is true or not, I thought this pistol would be a neat addition to my USMC uniform display. Unfortunately, firearms and related paraphernalia are not permitted where I currently live (my rifles are at my parent's house). As such, I've been using wooden blocks to give shape and add weight to all of the pouches and this holster in my display.

    Thanks, Harry!

I wish I could have put a denix 1911 in there... but I fear even that would get me in trouble. At least from a distance this looks okay.
