the bakelite hand sidegrips have 38 on them, means its from a mp38? stupid question really but no matter as they fit onto the pistol grip perfectly and thank god the original screw came with them too

Try using a very small triangular file on the male threads, on the barrel nut you could try an engineering workshop to see if they have a thread chaser of the correct size!...
It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

tiny little update probably not worth mentioning, I just got a relic mag for it and it fits in it perfectly, apparently the mag is a "scarce" slab sided early one, were these for the MP38 or MP40? dont know anything about these. few pics:

    Hello,

Slab sided magazines were made until 1942 when the ribbed ones came out.
Some of the slab sided magazines were recalled and had ribs added.
Early slab sided magazines were just stamped MP38, after the introduction of the mp40 they were stamped MP38u 40.
There are six types of magazine.

    1 stamped MP38 slabsided
2 stamped Mp38 with ribs added after 1942
    3 stamped MP38u 40 slabsided
    4 stamped MP38u 40 with ribs added after 1942
    5 stamped MP38u 40 ribbed
    6 stamped MP41 ribbed

The chances are you have type 3.

To identify these they were given letter codes
    O slabsided
A slabsided with ribs added after 1942
    B manufactured with ribs

    Jonathan.

Hello, I know this is a older post. But I was wondering if anybody could help me. I just won a mp38 receiver in relic condition on ebay, and I was wondering if customs would give me a issue. It's in a poor condition, but it would be nice for display. The seller is shipping it with the lower receiver tray part too. Just wanted to know if anybody had any issues with getting these types of items out of Europe.

    update:

    MP40 Muzzle cover cap added

relic untreated MP40 magazine to replace the current slab sided relic mag that looks ugly and motheaten, new one has no holes and will vastly improve the appearance
