    Default Tula SVT-40 Sniper Variant

    Hi Guys

Picked this up this week, really happy with, got it for a bargain price. Deactivated to current UK spec

Tula made 1941 SVT-40 Assault Sniper Rifle Variant. Has the correct Tula factory notch on the rear receiver, not the later Ishevsk addition. Also has the " C " mark on the right of the receiver. Has T6377 stamped on the left of the receiver, I think its a 6 anyway. Has 377 stamped on the stock, 377 etched on the bolt and also 377 underneath on the trigger guard. The stock has the Arsenal refurb marks on it, not sure wether to refurb the stock myself at a later date ????.....

Over 1 million produced, but I have read only 50,000 of this true sniper variant were produced

Sorry for the pictures but I cant seem to get any decent light, I may need a new camera as well soon !

    My question is this

If you look at the pictures you can see where there was a cut out made in the left of the stock, could this rifle of had a Mosin type scope and mount fitted at one point?

I will be looking for an original scope and mount in the future

    Thanks for looking

I would say it is a repair to the stock.

    Nice rifle.

    Cheers, Ade.

Yes, I think you are right Ade.......as always! haha, only jesting !

I only picked it up yesterday, I think I was a little hasty starting this thread and asking that question ! The more I thought about it afterwards, the clearer it became that it most likely was a repair. I took the mag out and checked out the inside walls of the receiver and there were no holes present so it must have been a repair. I think I have sniper scopes on my mind too much, been looking at lots of information regarding them and the female soviet snipers, I have become fascinated by them.

Looking at how the repair was carefully and precisely jointed together, I feel it was not a rush job, do you think it was most likely repaired during the arsenal refurb ?

    Cheers M
