Default Unique Model 17 for reference

This is a well worn condition Unique Model 17. These were made after the occupation of France for the German Army in mid 1940. Approximately 30,000 were produced between serial # 20,000 to 58,000 with overlap with the Model 16. All matching with original grip panels and magazine. The acceptance marking WaA251 was the only one used during production. On the hunt for a holster now. Also still need to add a model 16 to the collection. Neither the gun or holster show up very often in the Midwest, but not highly sought after either. Still a piece of German army history. Main credits for information goes to Axis Pistols by Jan C Still. Any and all opinions are welcome.

Very nice. Not one I've seen or heard of before. Definitely one to get!

Pretty cool Rescue. Checked my book. Was it also known as the KriegsModell L? Has it produced from 1940-45 in Hendaye France. Sure looks like a rare find.

The model 17 and the KRIEGSMODEL L are two different guns with minor differences. I am still researching to better understand the exact differences.
From one reference by Cliff Carlise. Later in the war, the Germans had the pistol modified with an external hammer and a curved grip frame. This was designated the Kriegsmodell and 20,000 were produced.

Good info. Used my Bluebook but is a bit dated. No Model 17 listed but other models produced after 1945. Interesting pistol.

That's a new one for me also. Looks like a Colt 1903 I used to have. It looks to be in great shape. Congrats. Semper Fi. Phil
