    Default Webley 'Senior' pistol

I came across this little gem at Preston arms fair yesterday. It is a .22 Webley Senior air pistol circa 1935. Production of the slant grip 'Senior' started from serial number 7000, and this one is 7796. It is the much rarer variant without the chequering to the back of the barrel. These pistols were made to a very high standard of workmanship, which was every bit as good a their cartridge firearms. Bluing is in very fine condition with just slight rubbing here and there, the camera has tended to make it look lighter than it actually is. The pistol is in full working order and is surprisingly accurate. The fitted case is home-made, but going off the wear, it probably dates from when the pistol was purchased. Many people of a certain age will remember these pistols from their youth. When on military ops in Andersonstown in 1971/72, we even (unofficially) used the more modern versions of these pistols for shooting out streetlights on the housing estates - the lights being the enemy of night patrols.

    Cheers,
    Steve.

These are popular pistols to collect and it is a nice example.

I sell these regular with our firearms sales at work.

    Cheers, Ade.
