    Yep that looks like a M1917 Enfield!....

    And it also looks like a Pattern 14 Enfield and a No3Mk1, which are all essentially one and the same though the M17 was in .30-06 while the P14 & No3Mk1 were .303
    I would look for any tell tail stamps and marks on the stock. If you acquired it in the US it is probably is from an M17, now restocked as a hunting rifle.

    The P14 and M1917 are similar but not identical-the British stocks by Winchester and Remington have shorter finger grooves in the fore stock (the ERA 'Fatso' stock is very different again) and have provision for the long range 'dial' sights-the US M1917 has longer fore stock grooves and no dial sights-the OP's example is the M1917 type.
