WWII Canadian Training Rifle.........

The Cooey .22 line-up at my place. The rifle second from
the bottom was my fathers from when he was a kid.
It was made for the 'T. Eaton Co.' by Cooey in the
late 1920's or early 30's, and is branded
"Eatonia" on the reciever.

I learned to shoot with it myself at age 11 or 12, and
even though it was run over by a Ski-doo and the
cracked stock repaired, it still shoots with
amazing accuracy for such a simple
little rifle.

Yes, I have a fondness for these.........

The Cooey 82 was the primary training rifle for the Air Cadets when founded in 1941. They were most likely purchased by the squadrons outside of the RCAF as a result these rifles would not have had the standard C-Broad arrow mark. My Cooey 82 is marked to a squadron that existed from 1941 to 1948. “110 SQUADRON RAYMOND” and is lacking any military or inventory numbering.

Currently, the 110 air cadet squadron is located Scarborough Ontario. I am not sure off hand when the squadron reformed. At times some of the air cadet squadron numbers have been re-used but generally only in cities where they were originally formed. I would imagine that the original 110 Squadron was also located in Scarborough. I can TRY seeing if it is mentioned in my AIR CADET magazines, but I am lacking in the 1941-1942 issues.

That appears to be the case. Though I have been on this forum for a while I have not made any posts as I did not have anything of merit to add, until recently.
