Re: can you ID the helmets used by these Iranian soldiers?
I know the Iranians purchased West-German M1 clones. I mean the two piece helmets (zweiteiliger helme). Steel shell and separate liner. The Germans got rid of these when the Bundeswehr switched to the M60 types. Apparently the Iranians discarded the liner and fitted a top-fastened liner of some sort. I never saw an actual specimen though.
The first photograph shows a helmet with a rather straight rim. This does not concur with the German two piece M1 clone. The Photograph of the clumsy guy loading a G3 magazine with his barrel stuck in the dirt, looks like the helmet I mean.
Very likely that the Shah started his own line of helmet production. Iran was and is a very capable nation.

hi Emile ,
I think you could be right about the Iranians producing their own helmet, the shape / profile looks unique
or they may have special ordered helmets from another country / military contracter that made them for export.

Hi,
the French had a helmet made by the U.S, with that type of rim
in the 50,s, it was on the same lines as the M1 but much different.
It could be that type.

the French M51 was made in France by several producers. It had a higher dome and indeed a straighter profile, but much different from this Iranian one.
The Dutch M53, as made by VDN in the eighties had a straighter profile as well, in comparison to the other M53's and it's fancestor; the M1. But still not close to this Iranian one.
Cheers,
Emile
