Danish M48 M1 clone

Hey guys,

Got this M48 today.
Was hoping it had the old US M1 WWII shell, but no...
Only saw a couple of pics of it on the net, was very cheap and when I saw the S/S lip on the shell I thought it could be. Rear seam.

Its a 1965 U.SCH made M48.
Austria: Heinrich Ulbricht's Witwe, Schwanenstadt (stamp: U.SCH)

Stamped CF with a crown above.
Grey colour.
Civil defence? or were only the early ones C.D because of the magnetic steel?

Large size, which is great because most helmets I have are too small.
I know these are common and are everywhere but I still like it.
Don't see many in NZ.

Definitely, Civil Defence as both the colour and initials CF - Civil Forsvaret indicate.

there are versions of both the Ulbrichts Witwe steel bodies and Dansk Kunstoff Industrie m/63 liners in CF grey.

But here is one that puzzles me, its a DKI m/63 liner in blue - which World War Helmets does not mention. It came with an Army green steel body.

The Blue liner is for the navy. Gery for Civil Defence and Green liners for the army helmets.

Danish M/23, pre WWII helmet:













And the often forgotten M/46 helmet. This model was supposed to be the standard helmet after the war.
Modelled after the Swedish M/37 helmet, but with British liner and US chinstrap. (this is the first version of the M/46)
Not many were made, and most of them were given to the navy in 1948-50, when the M1 and M1 clones were beginning to arrive in sufficient numbers.

Here is the pre-1928 version with the early pattern liner and two vents at the back of the skull, at some point it was repainted black for Police issue.

Hi Fellow collectors, there are some very nice examples of the Danish M-48 on display, here are two of my Danish CF versions, the first one with the B stencil represents "Fire" as I recall,kind regards Opex

I have a peculiar fascination with the M48, and put together a little block of information (and supposition) about it a couple of years ago. I thought I had posted it here but I can't find it, so I may place it here later - even if its a duplication it may be of help and interest.

But first a note about the M46; these are not easy to come by, especially the first version with the British liner. I have only rarely seen photos of that one, and I am pretty sure I have not seen one for sale on Ebay or anywhere else in 15 years of regular browsing. However, if anyone wants one of the second version with an indigenous Danish liner (which is an interesting things in itself), at least one is available from this Danish trader - Bisgaard & Nielsen - at a very reasonable (for an unusual helmet) 60.00 euro. I got mine some years back from a now vanished auction site.







The left hand picture shows the liner loosely placed in the shell; it is attached by pressing the liner onto studs welded within the shell, similar to the later DDR M56 series.
The right hand picture shows the adjustable liner band.
