    The metal device on the right side of the piece looks like it has been positioned to try to cover holes that are located where the Afghans affixed insignia on the WWI vintage helmets that were surplussed to that country in the interwar years. I don't think this is as advertised. I don't have any expertise regarding the decal and will leave that to others. You should post this on the German helmet forum for opinions as well. Jim G.

    I was also wondering what the second rivet (the one right of the decal) was for?
