Hungarian M-70 & Czech Vz-53 helmets

Article about: Two of my Eastern European collection. Both are in great condition, the M-70 has been lightly used, the Vz-53 looks as if it has never been used, just some shelf wear with a few scuffs.

Both liner types look far better designed than the Russian ones.

the Russian liner design seems to work better with winter headgear since it's a little over sized and you can remove the cotton padding to make it bigger if you ever wore a thick winter hat under it

but the adjustable leather liners used in these Czech & Hungarian helmets is a very good design

both designs look to be well made and good quality materials used

Both are extremely well made, thick heavy leather, strong looking rivets, good solid construction. The Hungarian M-70 appears to be powder-coated instead of paint, and the shell is a bit thicker than a US M1.

yes on older used m70's you can see where the plastic coating has peeled off in large sections

    G'Day All

    Nice Helmets

Here's a M70 I scored today, has a very thick layer of shiny paint, is this powder coating?
    Regards
