It is possible it's a personal rework for a more comfortable helmet, the thing I find strange about the para liner is that it doesn't have the BMB mark or a stamp of any kind.
I know guys alter stuff and take it with them to reserve duty each time. I knew some one who had a M1 liner converted to take 3 point strap for traing becuase it was lighter but still looked the part.

Here are some pictures of my M76/85, manufactured in 1989, it doesn't fully conform to the 1967-1982 title on the thread but the only real difference is in the chin strap configuration, the M76 used the 3 point British para type strap.

I think I'm right in saying that these are the first composite helmet issued to regular forces.

The cover is a size smaller than the helmet but it has been on there a long time.

That's a nice helmet and has some real character, does the liner have a BMB stamp in it?
Most of these are British para helmets, I've had 2 of these before and both have been dated 1944, I read somewhere that France sold them to Israel after the war when they decided not to use British kit.
The additon of the MkII cross shaped pad in the crown riveted in is a common modification.
