    i have seen a lid like this before but i cant for the life of me remember where from but i can tell you it's not US

    very much in the same vein as the US m1 with only a slight change in shape sure was a popular design

    That is french M51 OTAN helmet. read OTAN from back - NATO

    Most likely French. Possibly Portuguese or South African. These countries produced this french design as well. Look at the markings in the inside of steel shell.

    looks like a late issue French M51 with smooth paint and fixed loop bales, are the loops that hold the chin straps welded in the shell or does it have swivel loops? I use to own one that was dated 1971 and the loops were fixed [non movable type] and the paint was smooth green without any rough texture.
