OK, the only way I could get them was to take a pic on a phone of them on the screen, so firstly many appologies for the poor quality of the pics, secondly I make no applogies for the mustache of the person wearing the M42! we told him many times but he just would'nt listen LOL.

It was finally shaved, and burried with full military honours on our return home.

The M42 (I think thats what it is) was found on a British military base in somewhere in Kabul....several years ago, the M18 (Again Im open to any correction) was found nearby, they were both taken home by collegues after much paperwork. The note "its mine" was a joke, after several days and increasing cash offers from me to the finder he made the point that it was not for sale by taking this pic and setting it as the wallpaper on my laptop. .

I believe the Afghan army were given surplus german ww2 kit during the 60's, I seem to remember a pic somewhere of some training with them being worn, I dont know how the M18 got there tho, post any pics if anyone has them please.

Still got to hand it to you sscrooge, that "fedayeen darth sweede saver" is an awesome bring-back.

Hi Reg, not an M42. Note the folded under rim, so either an M35 or an M40.

Hi Guys, thanks for showing these helmets. Nice to see that people have recorded where and when they were taken.

    Cheers, Ade.
