Italian m15/16 Helmet

Hey guys,

Just got this helmet today and would appreciate any opinions. I know little about these, but know many were reissued and painted for the Spanish Civil War. I think, lol.

It is a later one piece model 26.
That is about all I can tell you friend.

Thats an Italian Model 1916 Lippmann , notice the metal tabs inside are identical to the French Model 1915 helmet , the later M26 helmets used a different type of liner that clipped onto metal brackets

the top comb has been welded on [not riveted]

Italian model 1916 "Adrian" style helmet. These were mainly issued to International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War

Italian manufactured gem, known as the "Lippmann helmet", simplified the construction process and eliminated many of the weaknesses of it's French progenitor. The Italian soldier of 1915 - 1916 had the next step in state-of-the-art helmet design

This elegant improvement of the French Adrian design included a two-piece construction rather than the four-pieces of its French counterpart. Fewer pieces meant fewer points of failure when impacted by debris, fragments, or shrapnel.

Thats an Italian Model 1916 Lippman

Now I'm confused, lol. I take it a Lippman is better then the model 26?

the Lippmann is a simplified design, but it's not as strong as the later French M26 , I think the M26 is a better improved helmet than the Lippmann

the later French M26 is actually better helmet , they also used better steel, if you compare both helmets you can feel the weight difference
