Came across this helmet in a shop not far from my home. I have never seen one like it and was wondering if anyone here was able to give me some info on it. Sorry the pictures are not the best. My father thinks it may be some sort of Italian helmet based on the style of vent hole. Thanks for any info.

Indeed - not Paratrooper. These are being sold as surplus along
with the older types of Swiss helmets from the 50's and 60's.
Don't pay much if you are interested in taking it home.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yup, it's an M71/90. The D-ring on the back was added when the Swiss brought out the TAZ 90 uniform, this was added to the helmet could be hung on the uniform, packs ect. This is the only difference from an M71.

The Swiss do have a few paratroopers, they started a company of them in 1964, now they call them Fallschirmaufklaerer they use a helmet of the French Guneau type. I found a few pics of the para helmet over at the Swiss Rifles forum

I was more interested in it because I had never seen one. My father and I collect WW2 U.S. and Japanese (with a few German pieces) militaria. They was $39.00 (US) for it. Think I will let it go. Thanks again guys.
