Need help identifying japanese helmet

I'm new to the forum and collecting in general. Wondering if anyone would venture an opinion on this Japanese Type 90 helmet liner. I'm wondering if it's an original or fake. And if original, an early or late war model?

Specifically, the three piece construction of the liner pads and the location of their attachment to the liner band appears different than most liners I've observed on the web. Any interpretation of the Kanji's? And any thoughts regarding whether the chin strap is early or late war ? And obviously, any other insights, observations or opinions is greatly appreciated.
