    Hi,

I just picked up this M40 and I have few questions:
    1. from my research it appears to be the early model with steel liner band
    2. from my research green colour for the colonial troops
    3. is there anyway to date it ?

Thanks - I have seen the 1963 modified m1 style liners.
Any ideas on the colour ? I have seen the light brown ones that were supposedly used in Portugal and green that were used by the troops in the overseas territories.

Fantastic example ,and whilst I can not claim to know a great deal about these helmets I am grateful you showed your example, as it clearly demonstrates the features of this Helmet, it appears to be very well made and a quality piece

    Thanks !

All I got from other forum is that green was for overseas territories and light brown for mainland Portugal.
