Portuguese M40 Helmet - questions
Article about: Hi, I just picked up this M40 and I have few questions: 1. from my research it appears to be the early model with steel liner band 2. from my research green colour for the colonial troops 3.

very nice find your right on it being the early version ,when refurbed in 1963 the liner was more like the us riddell

as for dating it, i imagine its very much the same as the spanish helmets which frustratingly have no dates

Thanks - I have seen the 1963 modified m1 style liners.
Any ideas on the colour ? I have seen the light brown ones that were supposedly used in Portugal and green that were used by the troops in the overseas territories.

Fantastic example ,and whilst I can not claim to know a great deal about these helmets I am grateful you showed your example, as it clearly demonstrates the features of this Helmet, it appears to be very well made and a quality piece

Nice helmet in great condition. The only reference I can find to helmet color is gray/brown.
