this looks like a South Korean Export M80 type helmet? the webbing is a little different than usual? the webbing & chin strap look similiar to the Chinese GK80A steel helmet webbing.

I have an Great uncle that is a marine, served in Korea, he would tell me stories, how they would use that BIG RED STAR on their helmets, as a target to shoot at, he said it would be a great big bullseye for them to aim at.

He said the officers wool winter caps were a much better target to shoot at , with a great bid red star pinned to the hat.
