    Hi,
I went to one of our local bootsales today and picked up a Mk1
Brodie helmet for £1.00, It had a 1940 liner that had rotted
so that was taken out. I had to clean the shale from it but it has cleaned up very well. It has H.S, maker mark ( Hadfield Ltd,
Sheffield. and the batch No, 294. good find i think.

    Dave,

Can you even get a half of lager over there now for that price?

You must be happy with that!

I like to collect relic condition helmets like that, they make excellent display pieces as is and dont cost much.

Is that a bolt on top of the helmet or am I seeing things? If it's a bolt it could be a ww1 helmet that was "updated" into a M-1917a1 for service in early ww2

wouldnt this be a mk II instead of a mk 1??..i was told or lead to believe that mk 1's had no separate edge band applied and that they were straight or raw edge if that makes it easier to say,,,,
