NVA "Cold War" Collection 1956 - 1990
...and I thouht, I'll get all other cold war nation's headgear as well.
Cheers,
Fabe
Fabe, a super M60 (actually made and issued in 1958, but designated the M60 !) West German steel helmet, made of Swedish steel, it is the first true steel helmet of the BW, the first, the "zweiteilige" (2 piece) U.S. M1 clone was made from inferior steel that dented very easily...and would not of offered much protection if the Cold War had escalated !
The M60 liner is held in by four attachment points, notice the cork spacer doughnuts on each point....first pattern had no perforations in the liner tongues, the second pattern, as Fabe,s does.
Here is my first pattern M60, I shall try to find a second pattern like Fabe's, to complete the collection.
Prost ! Steve.
Very nice example Fabe and in excellent condition too, thanks for showing it
THX Guys, now I can confirm it; that I won this helmet tonight for 11 Euroes - I don't know the market value of these - but seems an OK price. (I realize, that the liner is not in perfect shape, but this will have to do)
I'll post more pics when arrives on the BW helmets thread...
Cheers,
Fabe
Fabe......11 Euros a bargain !
i would pay up to and beyond triple that amount for one.........a nice example of an early BW stahlhelm
Prost ! Steve.
11 euros wow that's a great bargain!....
