WW1 CDT Helmet

Article about: The insignia is of the D.C.T. - Defensa Civil Territorial. That was a national Civil Defence service of Portugal. I believe it no longer exists in the same form and has been changed to PROTE

    Default WW1 CDT Helmet

This is something i bought today.
Its a 1917 portuguese territorial defense helmet, mostly used by the portuguese legion. Decal is almost complete, and still a lot of the original paint, has spots of rust but no liner. FS marked (Firth & sons, ltd).
This is the second one i have of these.
    Cheers.

The Portuguese CDT helmets are either leftovers from the First World War as used by the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps at that time, or were acquired later as surplus from the UK. A very large number of them were refurbished with a very distinctive Portuguese liner (quite different to the original) and chinstrap in later years. So yes, the shells are UK manufacture, but the liners are Portuguese.
